Artwork Spotlight: Lost in Thoughts
Creator's Note - Elad Katav: "This piece started the way a lot of my work starts, with a failed attempt.
I was trying to paint a portrait over a mixed-media base, but it didn’t work, so I decided to “destroy it” in a creative way. I sprayed the canvas, tore up the paper I had glued down, and suddenly the “mess” became the best part, an insane base layer with tons of texture, movement, and accidents I could never plan.
For the main figure, I did what I usually do, I scrolled my Instagram feed and got inspired by a short clip of a man sitting on a bench. I asked ChatGPT to create an outline of a kid in a hoodie on a bench, traced it, then built it up with ink and multiple acrylic layers.
At the end, I pushed it with more white and some gold details to lock it in. The contrast between the raw street layer and the clean figure is what makes it feel alive. Would love to hear what you think."
